We have a bully at work who thinks its her job to hire, fire and "train" new employees her way, which is "I do nothing, you do everything and don't dare report me for anything or you'll pay for it. Everyone is terrified of her and have said so. We are nurses and unfortunately this "person" does not bother to look after her patients,(left in abhorent conditions, taking their bells away from them), there have been written and verbal reports from patients, family and co-workers for years, all of which "got lost."
Unfortunately there is no support (because of fear),she will decide to get rid of someone by constantly harassing, reporting trivial matters to your boss, belittling, condescending and ridiculing, shouting, huffing and puffing, eye rolling, stalking and surveying your work, etc, etc, in the presence of other co-workers IF YOU DARE TO CROSS HER or CALL HER ON ANY NEGLIGENCE, ABUSE OR FAILURE that she has caused. The worst of it is, the target has done nothing wrong, except protect the vulnerable, helpless, sick patient(s). Everyone fears losing their job, fear being targeted if they "whistle blow" to the appropriate aboves and now we feel and have been told that the bully is going nowhere, "she's staying" and, we feel, being protected. This has been going on for years. The morale on our floor is below morbid, sick time skyrockets (as if we weren't short-staffed enough. Me, being one of her targets (after a life-threatening situation with a patient was reported) has now been targeted/accused, framed by management - trying every which way they could think of to make me quit, even suggesting I change floors or "forget about it." It hasn't been easy, but I refuse to lower my pride, self-esteem, dignity and morales to this person(s). I will be a patient advocate forever. How do I get over the hurt, anger and injury caused by this "person" and my so-called trusted supporters, i.e. management and the Union (when I asked for HELP!!) against a bully. This has severely affected all of my co-workers (some which were also bullied). I swear we are all suffering from PTSS. Staff have left in droves because they feel let-down. My category (above) could include a lot of others. Thank You. |
