I have been employed as a cook in a restaurant since August of 2007. As of Tues Nov 13th a sign went up in the kitchen that the restaurant was closing on Nov 27 2007 all employees laid off. Well since that time the information that the restaurant is not closing and never was has been revealed by other employees, What is happening is I am being laid off so that a friend of the Managers can have the full time hours, she has only worked at the restaurant since the beginning of November. My question is do i have any rights to argue that I have seniority and should have the right to keep working. I do not have enough hours to qualify for Unemployment Insurance and have a family that I have to support. Stressed and Frantic |
